Men's Soccer Beats Fredonia 3-1 at Doug May Classic

Mark Frisicano's goal helped lift RIT to a 3-1 win over SUNY Fredonia on Saturday.

PITTSFORD, NY --
RIT (1-1-0) scored two second half goals en route to a 3-1 win over SUNY Fredonia (0-2-0) at the Doug May Classic hosted by Nazareth College.

Mark Frisicano (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia)'s (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia)
goal in the 41st minute gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead over SUNY Fredonia .

Frisicano bulled his way past a Fredonia defender and ripped a shot into the low-right corner for his first goal of the 2007 season.

He narrowly missed a goal in the 39th minute on a nice feed from Bruno Coehlo (Cumberland, RI/Cumberland) (Cumberland, RI) but Fredonia's keeper made a diving stop.

Alan Smith (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) (Lancaster, PA) played a strong first half in net for the Tigers, making two saves. His best save came in the 22nd minute diving to make a stop on a shot from Ryan O'Donnell.

Chuck Marion (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) (Syracuse, NY) made it 2-0 when he converted on a penalty kick in the 61st minute.

After a Fredonia goal cut the lead to 2-1 Andrew Ong (Phuket, Thailand/ISKL) (Phuket, Thailand) gave the Tigers a two-goal advantage on a shot from outside the penalty area. Bret Dietz (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) (Harrisburg, PA) had the assist on the play.

RIT out shot the Devils 20-17. Alan Smith (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) picked up the win, making saves on the afternoon.

RIT will face Daemen College on Tuesday, September 4 at 4 pm in Buffalo, New York.
