PITTSFORD, NY --
Despite out-shooting SUNY Geneseo 17-8, RIT (0-1-0) fell to the Knights (1-0-0) 2-0 in the first round of the Doug May Classic hosted by Nazareth College on Friday afternoon.

Kurt Jameson gave the Knights a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute off an assist from Pat Occhiuto. Andy Marzo gave Geneseo a 2-0 lead in the 30th minute off a corner kick by Judah Manetta.

RIT out shot Geneseo 9-6 in the first half but none were on goal.  Alan Smith (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) made one save and allowed two goals in the opening half.

The Tigers controled the bulk of the play in the second half.  Chuck Marion (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) and Daniel Holowaty (Strongsville, OH/St. Ignatious) (Strongville, OH/St. Ignatious) had solid looks at goal late in the half.

Marion created his own shot at the top of the box and fired a shot that forced Geneseo goalkeeper, Jeremy Reeves, to make a diving save.

Holowaty had a great look at goal with about four minutes to go from about eight yards out that Reeves got his fingertips on.

The Tigers had eight second half shots, including five on goal.  Smith finished with two saves for RIT.

RIT will face SUNY Fredonia in the second round of the Doug May Classic on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Golden Flyers Stadium on the campus of Nazareth College.
