ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT baseball team split a double-header against Keuka College on a sunny afternoon at RIT Field. The split leaves RIT at 19-8 on the season, while Keuka is 9-14 on the season.
In game one RIT jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning. The big blow came off the bat of Brian Lindenau (Tucson, AZ/Sabino) (Tucson, AZ/Sabino) who launched a two-run home run off of Keuka starter Brady Begeal.
The storm answered back in the top of the third, plating five runs off of RIT starter Chris Miller (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta). The Tigers committed two errors in the field, leading to four unearned runs.
The Tigers rallied back in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring five runs. Jeff Bibbens (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) (Weedsport, NY) had a two-run double in the inning, giving the Tigers an 8-5 lead.
The Tigers could not hold the lead as the Storm scored four runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth to take a 12-8 lead.
The Tigers scored a run in their half of the sixth but went quiety in the seventh.
Miller took the loss and Begeal picked up the victory for Keuka.
In game two RIT scored four runs int eh second and third innings en route to a 10-0 win.
Cory Langtry (Moravia, NY/Moravia) (Moravia, NY) went five innings, allowing zero runs on three hits. He struck out two and walked two.
Matt George (Walton, NY/Walton) (Walton, NY), Andy Scroger (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) (Spencerport, NY), Ryan Tryt (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) (Fulton, NY) and Anthony Culotta (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) each had a pair of hits for the Tigers.
RIT will face Empire 8 rival Ithaca College on Saturday afternoon for a double-header beginning at 1 pm.
