Pat Walters picked up his second win of the season on Tuesday

BROCKPORT, NY -
The RIT baseball team (8-2, 2-0 Empire 8) bult an early 7-0 lead and hung on to defeat SUNY Brockport 7-5 in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday afternoon.  The Tigers have now on five straight games.

RIT built a 7-0 lead after the top of the seventh inning.  The Golden Eagles rallied with four runs in the bottom of the seventh off of starter Pat Walters (Rochester, NY/Webster) (Webster, NY/Webster).  Walters cruised through the first six innings, and picked up his second win of the year, allowing eight hits in 6 1/3 innings.

The Tiger bullpen held on, as Paul Schoeneck (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) and Chad Hendy (Roseburg, OR/Glide) (Roseburg, OR/Glide) held the Golden Eagles scoreless for 1 2/3 innings.  Cory Langtry (Moravia, NY/Moravia) (Moravia, NY/Moravia) pitched the ninth and picked up his first collegiate save.

Junior catcher Ryan Tryt (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) (Fulton, NY/Fulton) was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBI.   Brian Lindenau (Tucson, AZ/Sabino) (Tucson, AZ/Sabino) was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI.  Freshman Geoff Dornes (Landsville, PA/Hempfield) (Landsville, PA/Hempfield) went 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs scored.

RIT ripped 10 hits in the victory.

Mike Meola was 4-for-5 for the Golden Eagles (10-7).  Mike Avery was 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI.

The Tigers are back in action on Friday and Saturday, as they host Ithaca in a pair of doubleheaders.  Friday's action starts at 1 p.m.
