BROCKPORT, NY - The RIT women's track and field had an oustanding showing at the SUNY Brockport Invitational on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon at Special Olympics Stadium. Four different athletes won six events for RIT.
Junior LaKeisha Perez (Buffalo, NY/Leonardo da Vinci) (Buffalo, NY/Leonardo DaVinci) was one of two double event winners for RIT. She won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of :14:85 and took the 200-meters in :26.02.
Senior Allison Griggs (Salem, CT/East Lyme) (Salem, CT/East Lyme) won the shot put with a toss of 11.94 meters and the hammer throw, hurling 48.56 meters.
Freshman Danielle Furman (Coudersport, PA/Coudersport) won the javelin with a toss of 36.54 meters.
Amy Hopkins (Williston, VT/Champlain Valley Union) (Williston, VT/Champlain Valley Union) led a 1-2-3 RIT finish in the 10,000-meters, winning in 40:32.09. Alyssa Bennett (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) was second in 41:11.97 and Sara Pancoast (Stratford, CT/Bunnell) (Bunnell, CT/Stratford) was third in 41:41.80.
Senior Trisha Sliker (Albion, NY/Albion) (Albion, NY/Albion) was second in the 5,000-meter run in 18:50.12.
Nicole Varble (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) and Adrienne Gagnier (Croghan, NY/Beaver River) (Croghan, NY/Beaver River) were second and third in the 800-meters.
Senior Stephanie Matuszewski (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville) (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville) was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles.
RIT is back in action on Saturday at the Alumni Invitational at the University of Rochester.
