BROCKPORT, NY - The RIT men's track and field put forth an excellent performance at the SUNY Brockport Invitational on a sunny and warm Saturday afternoon.
Nate Lowe (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) (Spenceport, NY/Spenceport) won the 1,500-meter run in a sparkling time of 3:57.54. Andrew Varble (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) was third, while Nicholas Cox (/) was fourth.
Jared Burdick (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius), Nick Meeker (/) and Kirk Richards (/) completed a 3-4-5 finish for RIT in the 800-meters.
Mike Brindak (Syracuse, NY/Solvay) (Syracuse, NY/Solvay) and Kevin Smith (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) were first and second, respectively, in the 10,000-meter run. Brindak won the race in 33:52.17, defeating Smith by 21 seconds.
Antonio Torrence (/) was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of :59.35, while Matt Joseph (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) was fifth, a second behind.
Matt Newcomb placed second in the discus with a throw of 39.90 meters.
Chris Batdorf (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon) (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon) was fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 494.42 meters. He was also fifth in the discus.
RIT's 1,600-meter sprint medley team emerged victorious in a time of 3:38.85.
RIT is back in action on Tuesday, as they host the RIT Invitational that begins at 3:30 p.m.
