ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to St. John Fisher on Friday afternoon, falling 7-0 in game one and 8-2 in game two at Dugan Yard.  The Tigers are now 9-7 overall and 3-3 in Empire 8 play.

 

In game one, St. John Fisher scored six unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to turn a 1-0 lead into a 7-0 win. 

 

Matt George (Walton, NY/Walton) (Walton, NY/Walton) led RIT with two hits and two stolen bases.  Senior pitcher Dylan Rees (Wampsville, NY/Oneida) (Wampsville, NY/Oneida) picked up his first loss of the year, allowing nine hits and just one earned run in five innings of work.  Jeff Bibbens (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) pitched a scoreless sixth inning in his first work on the mound this season.

 

Greg Hanson and Scott Jurik combined on a six-hit shutout for the Cardinals.

 

In game two, St. John Fisher scored in the first five innings en route to the 8-2 win.  Chris Botsford led the Cardinals (14-6, 4-4 Empire 8) with four RBI.  Chad King defeated the Tigers for the second time in six days, allowing six hits and a run in five innings.

 

Sophomore Matt Austin (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) went 2-for-3 with a run batted in.  Geoff Dornes (Landsville, PA/Hempfield) (Landsville, PA/Hempfield) had a hit, scored and drove in a run.

 

Chris Miller (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) started and took the loss on the mound for RIT.

 

The Tigers are back in action on Saturday as they travel to St. Lawrence University to play the Saints in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m..
