ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women's track and field had a good ahowing at the University of Rochester Invitational meet, held on Wednesday afternoon at Fauver Stadium, as two runners combined to win four races.
Senior Danielle Simmons (Brewerton, NY/Brewerton) (Brewertown, NY/Brewertown) won two events, annexing the 400-meter dash in :59.21 and the 800-meter run in 2:23.80.
Junior LaKeisha Perez (Buffalo, NY/Leonardo da Vinci) (Buffalo, NY/Leonardo DaVinci) also won two events. She won the 100-meter dash in :13.08 and took the 100-meter hurdles in :16.35. She won the 100-hurdles by just six hundreths of a second over teammate Stephanie Matuszewski (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville) (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville).
Nicole Varble (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) placed fourth in the 800-meters and sixth in the 400-meter dash.
RIT is back in action on Saturday at the Nazareth Invitational in Pittsford, N.Y.
