Baseball Has Five-Game Winning Streak Snapped by University of Rochester

ROCHESTER, NY -
The RIT baseball team (8-3, 1-0 Empire 8) had its five-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday afternoon, falling to the University of Rochester Yellowjackets 13-0 at Towers Field.

The Tigers could muster just three hits off of three Rochester pitchers.  RIT committed a season-high six errors that led to seven unearned runs.

Chris Miller (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) took the loss for the Tigers, as he allowed three runs, two earned in 1 2/3 innings.

Geoff Dornes (Landsville, PA/Hempfield) (Landsville, PA/Hempfield), Anthony Culotta (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) and Jeff Bibbens (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) had hits for RIT.  The hit for Bibbens was the first of his collegiate career.  Culotta also stole a base.

For U of R, Chris Olsen picked up his second career win and first of the season by throwing six strong innings. He allowed two hits and two walks and struck out five. Gabe Chodak allowed one hit and one walk in two innings. John Fishback pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to finish it.

Jim Bard was 3 for 4 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Frank Infurna, Devin Shane, and Ed Kahovec each knocked in two runs for the Yellowjackets, who improve to 12-6.

The same two teams meet again on Wednesday, in a single-nine inning game, this time at the RIT Field starting at 4 p.m.
