PHOENIX, AZ - The RIT baseball team (2-0) defeated the Wartburg College Knights by a score of 15-12 on Monday. The two teams combined for a total of 29 hits during the nine-inning game. Sophomore Chris Miller (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) picked up his first win of the year for the Tigers, allowing three runs in five innings.

The Tigers jumped to an early lead in the first, plating two runs on a misplayed fly-ball from Andy Scroger (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) (Rochester, NY/Spencerport). RIT went on to score at least one run in six of the remaining eight innings, including four runs in the top of the sixth to push the lead to 12-3.

Anthony Culotta (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) went 2-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and a RBI. Matt Austin (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) had three hits on the day, bringing in three runs and scoring once. Ryan Tryt (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) (Fulton, NY/Fulton), and Andy Scroger (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) also had multiple hits in the win.

Freshmen Raffaele Parisi (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) (Rochester, NY/Aquinas), and Andrew Larsen (Seattle, WA/Roosevelt) (Seattle, WA/Roosevelt) both recorded their first collegiate base hits for RIT. Larsen also contributed on the basepasses, stealing two bases.

Sophomore transfer Cory Langtry (Moravia, NY/Moravia) (Moravia, NY/Moravia) made his first appearance on the hill for the Tigers in the ninth inning, where he was quickly thrown into the mix with the bases loaded and one out. After walking the first batter and an errant pick-off attempt by the catcher, Langtry found his grove and fanned the next batter. With two outs and runners on second and third, the hard throwing right-hander struck out Wartburg's Mike Johnson looking, sealing the win for the Tigers.

RIT is now 2-0, and will take on Wabash College Tuesday, at 10:30am MST in Phoenix, AZ.
