ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT men's crew Varsity and Junior
Varsity 8 (/) boats defeated St. Lawrence University on Saturday morning through sunny, cool and brisk conditions at the Genesee River. The race took place on a straight stretch of water starting at the Jefferson Bridge and finishing 2000 meters upriver. Due to a strong current throughout the course, all the boats faced a tough race as they were rowing against a strong head current.
The Varsity 8 (/) squad won the 2,000-meter race by just under 20 seconds in a time of 8:08.56.
RIT's junior varsity 8 boat won by 23 seconds in 8:31.27.
St. Lawrence's Varsity 4 team narrowly defeated RIT by two seconds, winning in a time of 9:58.08.
RIT is back in action on Saturday, as they travel to Ithaca to face-off against Ithaca and the University of Rochester in a three-team event.
