ROCHESTER, NY –
The RIT baseball team (7-2, 2-0 Empire 8) opened up Empire 8 play by sweeping a doubleheader against Utica College, 4-3 and 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at the RIT Field.  Pitchers Dylan Rees (Wampsville, NY/Oneida) (Wampsville, NY/Oneida) and Chris Miller (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) both twirled complete-game gems for RIT.
 
In game one, Rees scattered seven hits and walked just one, while striking out six.  It is his third win of the year, all complete games. 
 
RIT had just three hits in game one, but took advantage of eight walks and four Utica errors.  With the game tied at 3 in the top of the seventh, Andy Scroger (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) (Spencerport, NY/Spenceport) reached on an error and scored on a second error to provide the difference.
 
John Tine hit a towering, opposite field home run for the Pioneers.
 
In game two, Miller was outstanding, scattering four hits, allowing an unearned run, while striking out nine to improve to 2-0.
 
RIT scored all four of its runs in the second inning.  Andrew Larsen (Seattle, WA/Roosevelt) (Seattle, WA/Roosevelt) led off the inning with a single and moved to third on a single by Dan Christner (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima)Ryan Campbell (Brockport, NY/Brockport) (Brockport, NY/Brockport) dropped down a bunt that drove in Larsen and advanced Christner to give RIT a 1-0 lead.  Christner scored RIT’s second run when Anthony Culotta (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) reached on an error.  Culotta then stole second then scored on a single by Geoff Dornes (Landsville, PA/Hempfield) (Landsville, PA/Hempfield)Brian Lindenau (Tucson, AZ/Sabino) (Tucson, AZ/Sabino) then drove in Dornes with a double for the final run of the inning.
 
The Tigers and Pioneers finish up a weekend series with a pair of games on Sunday at RIT.  Game one begins at 12 p.m.
