Men's Basketball Falls to Ithaca

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (13-11, 7-6 E8) men's basketball team was defeated by Ithaca College (14-10, 9-4 E8) 83-74 in Empire 8 action on Friday evening.

The Tigers allowed 50 second-half points by the Bombers, while shooting 37.1% from the floor en route to the loss. 

RIT held a 36-33 lead at half time. The Tigers shot 50% from the floor on 15-of-30 from the floor. There were six lead changes and five ties in a closely played first half

Barrett Zeinfeld (Tucson, AZ/Catalina Foothills) (Tucson, AZ/Catalina Foothills) led a balanced RIT attack with eight points in the first half. Kenny Gethers (Syracuse, NY/Bishop Grimes) (Syracuse, NY/Bishop Grimes) had seven points and five rebounds and Mark Carson (Voorheesville, NY/Voorheesville) (Voorheesville, NY) added six points off the bench.

Ithaca scored the first four points of the second half and never looked back. The Bombers shot 59.1% from the floor in the second half and built a 12-point lead.

The Tigers fought their way back to within three points on a basket by Barrett Zeinfeld (Tucson, AZ/Catalina Foothills) and five points on a pair of free throws by Colin Roy (Malta, NY/Ballston Spa) (Malta, NY/Ballston Spa) but Ithaca made the big buckets at critical times.

Zeinfeld and Scott Young (Almond, NY/Hornell) (Almond, NY/Hornell) led RIT with 15 points apiece. Tim Bacon (Massena. NY/Massena) (Massena, NY) scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds and Gethers finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.

RIT will host Elmira College tomorrow afternoon at 4 pm on Senior Day.
