Women's Track and Field Competes at Cornell and Boston University; Four School Records Set

ITHACA, NY/BOSTON, MA -
The RIT women's indoor track and field team sent athletes to both the Kane Invitational at Cornell University and the Valentine's Meet at Boston University on Saturday. Four new school standards were set on this historic day.

In Boston, the distance medley relay team of Nicole Varble (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta), Adrienne Gagnier (Croghan, NY/Beaver River) (Croghan, NY/Beaver River), Danielle Simmons (Brewerton, NY/Brewerton) (Brewertown, NY/Brewertown) and Trisha Sliker (Albion, NY/Albion) (Albion, NY/Albion) set a new school record with a time of 12:21.49.

Sliker gave a run at sub 18:00 in the 5,000-meters breaking the school record by 37 seconds, finishing in 18:05. Gagnier broke the school record in the Mile, while LaKeisha Perez (Buffalo, NY/Leonardo da Vinci) (Buffalo, NY/Leonardo DaVinci) provisiaonally qualified in the 55-meter hurdles in an excellent time of 8.58. She also broke the RIT record in the 200-meters. Simmons picked up an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 800-meters.

At Cornell, the women competed against Division I Cornell, Vermont and Canadian powers Toronto and Queens. Michelle Sileo (West Haven, CT/West Haven) (West Haven, CT/West Haven) earned a ninth place finish in the 3,000-meter run, while Sara Pancoast (Stratford, CT/Bunnell) (Bunnell, CT/Stratford) was ninth in the 5,000-meters.

RIT is back in action this weekend, once again at Cornell.
