Men's Track Competes at Both Cornell and Boston University; Two School Records Broken

ITHACA, NY/BOSTON, MA -
The RIT men's indoor track and field team sent athletes to both the Kane Invitational at Cornell University and the Valentine's Meet at Boston University on Saturday. The Tigers distance medley and weight throw records were shattered.

At Boston University, the men were pitted against several Division I schools. The distance relay team of Nate Lowe (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport), Andrew Varble (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta), Mike Hardbarger (Parkersburg, WV/Ritchie County) (Parkersburg, WV/Richie County) and Jon Sealander recorded a time of 10:05.62, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Tournament and breaking a 36-year old school record by nearly 14 seconds.

Lowe also provisionally qualified for the NCAA Tournament in the 5,000-meters, finishing the race in a time of 14:45.99.

Varble finished the mile in 4:21.14, one of the fastest times in RIT history.

At Cornell, the men competed against Division I Cornell, Vermont and Canadian powers Toronto and Queens. Marc O'Donnell (/) finished fourth in the 1,000-meter run in a time of 2:40.35.

Chris Batdorf (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon) (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon) broke the school weight throw record with a toss of 14.32 meters.

RIT is back in action this weekend, once again at Cornell.
