ROCHESTER, NY -- The fifth seeded RIT women's soccer team fell to fourth seeded Vassar College 2-0 in the quarterfinals of the 2007 ECAC Division III Upstate Women's Soccer Tournament. The Brewers advance to the seimfinals where they will face the winner between Medaill and SUNY Brockport .
The lone goal in the first half came in the 13th minute. Allison McManis converted a penalty kick after RIT was called for a hand-ball inside the box.
Heather Moe (Chesapeake Beach, MD/Calvert) (Chesapeake, MD) made one save in the first half while Ann Hutchinson stopped two shots for the Brewers.
Emma Kemp made it 2-0 in the 54th minute. She poked home a pass from Caitlin Forsyth off of a corner kick. Forsyth took the cornere just outside the box. She found Kemp who poked a shot past
Ashley Conti (Canfield, OH/Canfield) (Canfield, OH) for a 2-0 lead.
Erica Main (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) (Chittenango, NY) had two very good scoring chances in the second half. Her first came with about 30 minutes to play.
Alyssa Barnes (East Hampstead, NH/Pinkerton Academy) led her in on a breakaway. She fired a shot but it was right at the Vassar Hutchinson who made the save.
She had another partial breakaway with about 15 minutes to play but her shot sailed over the top of the net.
RIT finished the season with a 9-7-2 record while Vassar improves to 11-8-1.
