ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's soccer team had a four-game winning streak snapped with a 3-0 loss to Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops RIT to 6-4-1 overall and 1-2-0 in the Empire 8. Stevens improves to 8-3-1 and 3-1-0 in the Empire 8.
RIT had some really good scoring chances early in the first half but were unable to capitalize. Anna
Kolnik (Sharon, WI) and
Erica Main (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) (Chittenage, NY) had really good looks at goal but their shots just missed.
Stevens took a 1-0 lead in the 41st minute on a goal by Meghan Tennyson. She snuck a shot past RIT goalkeeper
Ashley Conti (Canfield, OH/Canfield) (Canfield, OH) for a 1-0 Ducks lead.
The Duck took a 2-0 lead on an own goal by the Tigers in the 49th minute. Katie Misilo rounded out the scoring with her unassisted goal in the 52nd minute.
Stevens out shot RIT 14-7 and had the advantage in corner kicks, 6-3. Sherri Rosenberg picked up the win for Stevens, making four saves.
Ashley Conti (Canfield, OH/Canfield) finished with seven saves.
The Tigers will host Utica College on Sunday afternoon at noon.
