Women's Soccer Finishes Regular Season With Win at Elmira

ELMIRA, NY - Danielle Painter (Mililani, HI/Mililani) (Miliani, HI/Miliani)
scored in the 72nd minute, breaking a 1-1 tie and lifting the RIT women's soccer team (9-6-2, 4-3-1 Empire 8) to a 2-1 win over Elmira College on Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale for both teams.

Painter picked up a loose ball in the box after Alyssa Barnes (East Hampstead, NH/Pinkerton Academy) (East Hampstead, NH/Pinkerton Academy) slid a pass through.  Painter ripped a shot just  under the crossbar for her third goal of the season and second game-winning tally.

Erica Main (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) scored her team-leading eighth goal of the year in the 30th minute to give RIT a 1-0 lead.  Barnes also assisted on the goal. 

Main now has 20 points in 2007.

Jenna Wellington scored in the 51st minute for Elmira, who fell to 2-13-1 (1-7-0 Empire 8).

The Tigers out-shot Elmira 15-3 and had nine corner kicks to Elmira's three. 

Ashley Conti (Canfield, OH/Canfield) (Canfield, OH/Canfield) made one save to improve to 8-5-2 this season.  Meaghan Doherty stopped eight shots in defeat for the Soaring Eagles.

The Tigers will now await a possible ECAC Upstate bid.
