ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's soccer team (8-6-2, 3-3-1 Empire 8) fell to Nazareth College by a score of 1-0 in a crucial Empire 8 match-up on Tuesday afternoon on a cold, dark and dreary afternoon.
Rachel Cushman scored on a header off of a corner kick by Julie Birbilis in the 30th minute for Nazareth (10-5-1, 5-2-0 Empire 8). The Golden Flyers clinched a spot in the Empire 8 Tournament with the win.
The Golden Flyers held RIT at bay in the second half, although the Tigers did generate a handful of good scoring chances.
Amanda Sisti (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) had RIT's best chance of the half, as she found herself alone in front of the Golden Flyer net. Her shot was deflected away by a Nazareth defender.
RIT needs to defeat Elmira on Saturday and have Utica lose its final two conference matches to have a chance at making the tournament.

The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, as they complete the regular season with a road contest against Elmira starting at 1 p.m.
