CORTLAND, NY – The RIT women's tennis team won 2-of-3 doubles  matches and 3-of-5 singles matches, with the sixth singles match suspended due to weather, and defeated Cortland 5-3 Wednesday afternoon. The Tigers improved to 9-5, while the Red Dragons fell to 2-8 on the season.

The Tigers won second and third doubles. In the second flight, senior Leigh Bryson (Wallingford, CT/Mark T. Sheehan) (Wallingford, CT/Mark T. Sheehan) and freshman Michele Caporali (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) (Endicott/Union-Endicott) secured an 8-2 victory, and sophomore Annie Nichols (Manchester, NH/Central) (Manchester, NH/Central) and freshman Ashley Oliver (State College, PA/State College Area) (State College, PA/State College Area) won 8-3 at third doubles.

RIT claimed wins  at third through fifth singles. Junior Sara Paduano (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) (North Tonawanda) won at third singles, 6-3, 6-4. Junior Joanna Cash (Rochester, NY/Brighton) (Rochester/Brighton) secured a 6-2, 6-4 win at fourth singles, and Oliver was triumphant in fifth singles, 6-1, 6-1. The sixth singles match between Cortland sophomore Katie Freeman and Nichols was suspended when inclement weather moved in with Nichols leading 6-4, 4-4.
