CANTON, NY - The RIT 4 x 400-meter relay team set its second school record in three weeks, as the RIT women's indoor track and field team finished third out of eight teams with 103 points at the St. Lawrence Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Nicole Varble (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta), Danielle Simmons (Brewerton, NY/Brewerton) (Brewertown, NY/Brewertown), Katie Palermo (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) and LaKeisha Perez (Buffalo, NY/Leonardo da Vinci) (Buffalo, NY/Leonardo DaVinci) recorded a time of 4:08.98 in the 4 x 400-meter relay. That time broke the previous record of 4:10.11 set two weeks ago.
Perez won two other events, the 55-meter hurdles in 8.73 seconds and 55-meter dash in 7.58 seconds.
Stephanie Matuszweski (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville) was second to Perez in the 55-meter hurdles, while Samantha Mitchell (/) was right behind Perez in the 55-meter dash.
Simmons also annexed the 200-meters in :27.12.
Adrienne Gagnier (Croghan, NY/Beaver River) (Croghan, NY/Beaver River) won the 800-meter run in 2:25.29.
Trisha Sliker (Albion, NY/Albion) (Albion, NY/Albion) finished third in the 1,000-meters with a time of 3:10.99.
Alyssa Bennett (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) was third with a time of 19:37.96 in the 5,000-meters.
The distance relay team of Varble, Gagnier, Sliker and Simmons was second in a time of 12:32.07.
The Tigers will host a 10-team meet at the Gordon Field House at 4 p.m. on Friday.
