SYRACUSE, NY - The RIT men's indoor track and field team competed at the 2007 Syracuse Welcome Back Invitational on Friday evening. Andrew Varble (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) won the 3,000-meter run for the Tigers.
Varble completed the race in 8:43.41. Nate Lowe (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) was right behind, finishing second in 8:47.01. Jared Burdick (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) and Nick Lowe (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) were third and fourth as well.
The Tigers swept the second through ninth place finishes in the 1000-meter run, with Varble as RIT's top finisher in 2:37.11. Marc O'Donnell (/) was a second behind in third.
Joe Hozdic (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) was second in the 500-meter run, finishing with a time of 1:07.90.
Antonio Torrence (/) was third in the 55-meter hurdles in :7.94.
Tim Wesley was third in the shot put with a toss of 14.00 meters. Chris Batdorf (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon) (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon) was third in the weight throw with a throw of 12.46 meters.
The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, as they host the RIT Invitational.
