ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women’s soccer team won their third straight game with a 4-0 win over SUNY Potsdam on Saturday afternoon. The win improves RIT to 4-4-2 on the season while Potsdam drops to 4-7-0.
RIT struck early on a goal from
Melissa Pratt (Consesus, NY/Livonia) (Conesus,NY/Livonia). With RIT attacking down wind Pratt took a long shot from 25 yards out that beat Sarah Casey, giving RIT a 1-0 lead.
The Tigers controlled the ball early in the first half, generating several legitimate scoring chances.
RIT made it 2-0 on a nice build up in 40
th minute.
Alaina Chorney (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) sent
Alyssa Barnes (East Hampstead, NH/Pinkerton Academy) (E. Hampstead, NH/Pinkerton Academy) in.
Jacqueline Bruckel (Geneseo, NY/Geneseo) (Geneseo, NY/Geneseo) ran in with Barnes, creating the 2-on-1. Barnes fed Bruckel who took a touch and scored over Casey’s shoulder.
RIT out shot SUNY Potsdam, 9-2 in the first half. Sarah Casey made four saves, while
Ashley Conti (Canfield, OH/Canfield) (Canfield, OH/Canfield) had to make just two saves for RIT.
SUNY Potsdam had an early chance in the second half. Cori Witkiewicz had a free kick from 30 yards out that went over
Lynette Serbinski (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge)’s (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) head but doinked off the cross bar.
Erica Main (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) made it 3-0 on a free kick. She struck a nice ball from just outside the 18-yard box for her second goal of the season.
RIT dominated time of possession, out-shooting the Bears 17-3.
Lindsay Kolceski (Syracuse, NY/Solvay) (Syracuse, NY/Solvay) tallied the fourth RIT goal in the 42ns minute.
Ashley Conti (Canfield, OH/Canfield) picked up the victory, making two saves.
Lynette Serbinski (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) played the entire second half.
RIT will host Empire 8 rival Nazareth College on October 4 beginning at 4 pm.
