UTICA, NY -
Senior forward Brittany Peters (Marion, NY/Marion) (Marion, NY/Marion) scored her first goal of the season in the 88th minute to lift RIT (2-4-2, 2-0-0 Empire 8) to a 1-0 win over conference rival Utica College (5-2-0, 2-1-0 Empire 8) on Saturday afternoon.

Peters took a feed from Emily Stecher (New Cannan, CT/New Cannan) (New Cannan, CT/New Cannan) and ripped a shot past Utica goalkeeper Ashley Kaufman to give RIT its second straight Empire 8 victory.

RIT outshot Utica 9-8. Ashley Conti (Canfield, OH/Canfield) (Canfield, OH/Canfield) made five saves for her second shutout and second victory of 2006. Kaufman made five saves for Utica.

The Tigers are back in action on Thursday evening, as they travel to play Empire 8 foe Alfred University at 7 p.m.
