Wooster opened the scoring in the 31st minute, as Alice Bauman took a pass from Erin Lustic inside the penalty box and struck a low shot inside the right post for her first tally of the season.
The Fighting Scots out-shot the Tigers 8-4 over the first 45 minutes of play.
RIT came out determined to get the equalizer in the second half and did just that in the 41
st minute.
Kristen Denninger (Rochester, NY/Nazareth Academy) (Rochester, NY/Nazareth Academy) corralled a loose ball just to the side of the Wooster net and found
Alaina Chorney (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) whose shot glanced off Stacy Alario and into the net.
Unfortunately for the Tigers, Wooster grabbed the lead right back two minutes later, as Lustic’s shot from 25-yards out eluded RIT goalkeeper
Heather Moe (Chesapeake Beach, MD/Calvert) (Chesapeake Beach, MD/Calvert) to give the Fighting Scots a 2-1 advantage.
Moe made a great save on Winnie Adrien to keep it 2-1 Wooster in the 60th minute.
Erica Main (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) had RIT’s best late chance, as she rattled one off the crossbar from about 30-yards out with a little over 26 minutes left.
Wooster out-shot RIT 13-9.
RIT is back in action on Tuesday, as they travel to Buffalo State to play the Bengals at 4 p.m.
Maria Iaizzo’s goal, her second in two days, misway through the second half vaulted #19 Wisconsin-Eau Claire to a 1-0 win over SUNY Cortland in the Rachel Miller Championship.
Iaizzo collected a pass from Kristi Olson just outside the penalty area, spun and ripped a bending shot past a diving Megan Thayer and just inside the left goal post.
