Women's Soccer Falls to Nationally-Ranked University of Rochester

ROCHESTER, NY –
The RIT women’s soccer team (1-4-2, 1-0-0 Empire 8) fell to #11 University of Rochester by a score of 2-0 at Fauver Stadium on a sunny, Tuesday afternoon.

Neither team could break through in the first half. U of R had the best chance midway through the half, as Mary Walsh ripped a shot that Ashley Conti (Canfield, OH/Canfield) (Canfield, OH/Canfield) got a piece of before it bounced off the post and out.

The Yellowjackets (5-0-1) out-shot the Tigers 8-0 over the first 45 minutes of play. U of R got on the board in the 54th minute, as Emily Urbanczyk lofted a free-kick from 20-yards out over a leaping Conti and just under the crossbar for a 1-0 lead.

U of R expanded the lead to 2-0, as Laura Morrison took a shot from 30-yards out that bounced over the head of Conti with just under 23 minutes left.

RIT was held without a shot. U of R recorded 22 shots and had 10 corner kicks to zero from RIT. Conti made six saves. Lynette Serbinksi (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) came in with just over 10 minutes remaining and made a sensational diving save on a shot by Angela Heaney.

RIT is back in action on Saturday, as they travel to Utica to play the Pioneers in an Empire 8 match at 2 p.m.
