Click For BoxscoreROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women’s soccer team (0-3-2) battled unbeaten Hamilton College to a scoreless draw on Wednesday afternoon at RIT Field.
Hamilton outshot RIT 18-9.
Ashley Conti (Canfield, OH/Canfield) (Canfield, OH/Canfield) made six saves to earn the shutout for RIT. Caitlin McGilley stopped three shots for the Continentals (2-0-1).
RIT had the best chance in the opening 45 minutes, as freshman Kristen Denninger (Rochester, NY/Nazareth Academy) corralled a loose ball at the side of the Hamilton net. With the goalie out of position, Denninger took a shot that was going towards the top of the net. Unfortunately for the Tigers, a Hamilton player was able to block it off the goal line.
Hamilton outshot RIT 9-6 in the first half.
Both defenses tightened up in the second half, with neither team able to mount much in the way of offense.
In overtime both teams had good chances, but were unable to convert.
Emily Traversi (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough) (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough) took a shot from inside the box with six minutes left in the second overtime that McGilley denied with a strong diving save.
Less than a minute later, Erica Dressler hit the crossbar on a partial breakaway for Hamilton.
The Tigers begin Empire 8 conference play on Saturday, as they host Elmira College at RIT Field. Game time is at 12 p.m.
