ROCHESTER, NY – NYU captured its fourth consecutive RIT Invitational Tournament title on Saturday, defeating RIT in a stirring final match, 30-19, 27-30, 30-22, 20-30, 18-16. The #14th-ranked Violets, led by tournament MVP, setter Cailtin Grundman, came back from a 14-9 deficit in the fifth and decisive game to earn the championship win and improve to 10-2 in 2006. RIT is now 10-3. RIT defeated SUNY Cortland 16-30, 17-30, 30-21, 30-23, 15-13 in the first semifinal on Saturday. NYU upended Ithaca 30-21, 30-24, 30-25 in the other semifinal.
