Click For Boxscore - Game #1Click For Boxscore - Game #2GENESEO, NY -- The RIT softball concluded the 2006 season on Saturday with a pair of games against SUNY Geneseo. The Tigers lost both game, 4-0 and 7-3. RIT finished the season with a 16-24 overall record. SUNY Geneseo improves to 21-15.
Game one was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when SUNY Geneseo struck for four runs off of RIT starter
Amanda Morehouse (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Acadmey). Melissa Mason led off the inning with a homerun. Audrey Kuhn singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Sara Weisenborn doubled in Kuhn to make it 2-0. Keaghan Reed smacked a two-run homerun to make it 4-0 Knights.
RIT mustered just five hits in game one.
Nikki Taylor (Oswego, NY/Oswego) (Oswego, NY/Oswego) had two hits and
Katie Grenga (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) (Syracuse, NY/CBA) went 2-3.
Allison Ingalls (Cuba, NY/Cuba) (Cuba, NY/Cuba) had the other RIT hit.
Morehouse pitched all seven innings for RIT, allowing four earned runs. She gave up five hits, struck out two and walked one. Audrey Kuhn got the win for SUNY Geneseo.
In game two RIT got on the board in the top of the first.
Breana Sniezek (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) singled to lead off the game. She would eventually advance to third on a passed ball and score on a singles by
Stephanie Nailos (Pittsfield, MA/Taconic) (Pittsfield, MA/Taconic).
That score would hold up until the bottom of the second when the Knights struck for seve runs on eight hits and two errors by the Tigers
RIT got two runs in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 7-3.
Cailtin Krumm (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) singled with the bases loaded scoring
Katie Grenga (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) who had singled.
Stephanie Nailos (Pittsfield, MA/Taconic) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring Sniezek.
Shila Wells (Underhill, VT/Essex) (Underhill, VT/Essex) popped out to second with the bases loaded to end the threat.
Wells went all six innings for RIT, allowing seven runs, five of which were earned, on 13 hits. She struck out one and walked one. Lindsay Norton picked up the win for SUNY Geneseo.
