Men's Track and Field Has Seven Winners at U of R Last Chance Meet

ROCHESTER, NY -
The RIT men's track and field team had a very successful Saturday at the University of Rochester Invitational held at Fauver Stadium, as six different Tigers won events.

Mike Herb (Malden-on-Hudson, NY/Saugerties) (Malden-on-Hudson, NY/Saugerties) won the pole vault, with a leap of 4.57 meters. He holds the indoor and outdoor records at RIT.

Sophomore Stephen Burns (Newmarket, ON/) (Newmarket, ON/Newmarket) won the javelin throw with a throw of 57.74 meters.

Jimmy Sorel (Brockport, NY/Brockport) (Brockport, NY/Brockport) won the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 55.29 and annexed the 110-hurdles in 15.37.

Andy Varble (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta), Nate Lowe (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) Jared Burdick (Manlius, NY/Fayetville-Manlius) (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) were 1-2-3 in the 1,500-meter run.  Varble won in 4:03.37, Lowe was right behind in 4:04.11 and Burdick was third in 4:08.73.

Dereck Bojanowski (Franklinville, NY/) ( Franklinville, NY/Franklinville) won the 3,000-meters in 9:38.02, while Jesse Williamson (Poughkeepsie, NY/FDR) (Poughkeepsie, NY/FDR ) was victorious in the 5,000-meters in 14:57.28.

 RIT is back in action on Saturday at the NYSCTC Championships held in Canton, NY.
