Men's Track Competes at Inaugural Nazareth Invitational

PITTSFORD, NY - The RIT men's track and field team competed at the inaugural 2006 Nazareth Invitational held at Nazareth College on Saturday.

Senior Jared Burdick (Manlius, NY/Fayetville-Manlius) (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) won the 1,500-meter relay by nearly a second in a time of 3:59.77. 

Andrew Varble (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) (Rochester, NYRush-Henrietta) and Michael Hardbarger (Parkersburg, WV/Ritchie County) (Parkersburg, WV/Ritchie County) finished first and second in the 5,000-meter run.  Varble won the race in 15:48.30 and Hardbarger went in 16:04.00.

Max Ferguson (Renton, WA/Kindbergh) tallied a win in the 10,000-meter run by nine seconds in 33:26.05.

Matthew Joseph (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford) and Joel Wilmore (/) finished first and second in the 400-meter hurdles.  Joseph won in 59.52 seconds and Wilmore was nearly a second behind, finishing in 60.27. 

Stephen Burns (Newmarket, ON/) (Newmarket, ON/Newmarket) was second in the javelin throw with a toss of 47.26 meters.  Adam Butterworth (/) was second in the pole vault with a jump of 3.11 meters.

RIT is back in action on Saturday, as they compete at the U of R Alumni Invitational.
