Softball Gets Back on Winning Track With Two Big Wins Over Skidmore

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -
The RIT softball team (13-13) got back on the winning track on Saturday, scoring 31 runs in two games, sweeping Skidmore College 17-0 in five innings and 14-3 in six innings.

In game one, RIT scored three runs in the first inning, four in the second, eight in the third and two in the fourth inning for the win. RIT also drew a season-best 15 walks and had 27 players reach base.

All 12 RIT hits were singles. Breana Sniezek (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) and Josa Hanzlik (Fairport, NY/Fairport) (Fairport, NY/Fairport) each had three hits. Sneizek scored three runs, while Hanzlik drove in three. Cailtin Krumm (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) was 2-for-2 with three walks, three RBI and three runs scored. Heidi Schille (Lake George, NY/Lake George) (Lake George, NY/Lake George) scored three runs, while Rachel Richards (Buffalo, NY/Holy Angels Academy) (Buffalo, NY/Holy Angels Academy) was 1-for-1 with four walks. Amanda Morehouse (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) picked up her sixth win, allowing just three hits in five innings.

In game two, RIT jumped out to a 10-0 lead after two innings and never looked back. Sniezek was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Krumm was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI. Stephanie Nailos (Pittsfield, MA/Taconic) (Pittsfield, MA/Taconic), Allison Ingalls (Cuba, NY/Cuba) (Cuba, NY/Cuba-Rushford), Jenna Kilroy (Albany, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) (Albany, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) and Katie Grenga (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) each drove in two runs in game two. Shila Wells (Underhill, VT/Essex) (Underhill, VT/Essex) picked up the win on the mound for RIT.

Emily Turek was 5-for-5 in the doubleheader for Skidmore (9-17).

RIT is back in action on Tuesday, as they travel to Ithaca to play the Bombers in a doubleheader at 3 p.m.
