ORLANDO, FL -- The RIT men's lacrosse team came into today's game against Muhlenberg College averaging 16.5 goals per game. The #8 Tigers put 17 on the scoreboard defeating the Mules 17-4 in sunny Orlando Florida. The win improves RIT's record to 3-0, while Muhlenberg is 0-1 on the season.
RIT came out quickly, leading 5-1 after the first quarter of play and 8-2 at the half. The Tigers kept the momentum in the second half, outscoring the Mules 9-2.
Junior Eric Pritchard (Webster, NY/Webster) (Webster, NY/Webster) led RIT with four goals and an assist. Scott Farress (Webster, NY/Webster) (Webster, NY/Webster) had three goals and an assist, while David Thering (Fairport, NY/Fairport) (Fairport, NY/Fairport) added four assists. Dave DeMuth (Jordan, NY/Jordan-Elbridge) had three goals and Andy Ruocco (Corning, NY/Corning East) (Corning, NY/Corning East) had a pair of goals and an assist. Senior co-captain Zach Bednarz (Webster, NY/Webster) (Webster, NY/Webster) had a goal and an assist.
John Foley (Guelph, ON/Our Lady of Lourdes) (Guelph, ON/Our Lady of Lourdes) got the start in goal for RIT. He made nine saves and picked up the win. Brad Conlon (Ottawa, ON/Bridgeton Academy) (Ottawa, ON/Bridgeton Academy) and Alex VanderEls (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) each made two saves for RIT.
RIT will face Union College on Saturday, March 11 at 1 p.m. in Schenectady, New York.
