ROCHESTER
, NY - The RIT softball team swept conference rival Elmira College in a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon on a seasonable, sunny day at the RIT Field.  RIT won game one 4-1 and game two by a score of 16-1 in five innings.
 
In game one, Amanda Morehouse (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) fired a complete game six hitter, without allowing a walk en route to her third win of the season. 
 
The Tigers opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning on back-to-back doubles by Katie Grenga (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) and Caitlin Krumm (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North).
 
RIT opened the lead to 4-0 with three runs in the bottom of the fifth.  Nikki Taylor (Oswego, NY/Oswego) (Oswego, NY/Oswego) led off with a walk and then was moved to second on a single by Allison Ingalls (Cuba, NY/Cuba) (Cuba, NY/Cuba).  After Heidi Schille (Lake George, NY/Lake George) (Lake George, NY/Lake George) sacrificed the runners over, Grenga hit a ground ball down the third base line that was misplayed by the third basemen, scoring both runs to put RIT up 3-0.  Stephanie Nailos (Pittsfield, MA/Taconic) (Pittsfield, MA/Taconic) hit a RBI double to right, scoring Grenga for RIT’s fourth run of the afternoon.
 
Elmira got its lone run in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Paige Taylor that scored Katrina Katen, who led off the inning with a double off the left field fence.
 
Sarah Slivinski allowed two earned runs and struck out seven in six innings for the Soaring Eagles.
 
In game two, the Tigers got off to a quick start, scoring a run in the first inning for the second straight game.  Taylor led off with a double over the right fielder’s head and scored three batters later on a wild pitch.
 
The Tigers exploded for four runs in the second to go up 5-0.  Krumm provided the big blow in the inning, hitting a bases-loaded single that plated two runners.
 
After RIT went up 7-1 with a pair of runs in the third inning, they exploded for eight runs in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach.  Hanzlik had a three-run double in the inning
 
Shila Wells (Underhill, VT/Essex) (Underhill, VT/Essex) picked up her second win of the season, allowing four hits and a run over five innings.
 
Taylor was 4-for-4 with three runs scored a RBI in game two.  Hanzlik and Krumm each drove in three runs, while Nailos had two hits.  All nine Tiger starters scored at least one run.
 
Elmira committed a season-high seven errors in the contest.
 
The Tigers are back in action on Saturday as they travel to play Hartwick College in a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
