Baseball returns to Western New York after finishing 2-6 in Arizona

PHOENIX, AZ -
The RIT baseball team lost both of their games on Friday to Coe College 15-14 in game one and 14-9 in game two. The Tigers finish their Arizona road trip with a record of 2-6.

In game one, the Tigers pounded 17 hits, but could not get the win. Matt Singer (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) went 2-for-4 with his first home run of the season, while driving in and scoring two runs. Colin Bradley (Barre, VT/Spaulding) (Barre, VT/Spaulding) was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a triple and scored three times. Andy Scroger (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) ripped two doubles and Jeremy Tosh (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) had three hits in as many at-bats.

Tiger starter Mike Fox (Victor, NY/Victor) (Victor, NY/Victor) gave up seven runs in 3 2/3 innings and left the game after being hit in the shin by a line drive. Paul Schoeneck (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) allowed a run over 1 1/3 innings, while Nick Bell (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown) (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown) pitched 1 2/3 innings allowing two runs. Nick Rappa (Fairport, NY/Fairport) (Fairport, NY/Fairport) also pitched for RIT.

In game two, RIT recorded 11 hits, but it was not enough, as Coe upended the Tigers 14-9.

Senior outfielder Mark Sapienza (Avon, NY/Avon) (Avon, NY/Avon) was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI. Tosh continued his incredible hot streak going, with three hits in as many at-bats for the second straight game. He had a double and RBI as well.

Junior pitcher Dylan Rees (Wampsville, NY/Oneida) (Wampsville, NY/Oneida) took the loss.

RIT is back in action on Sunday, March 26, as they host Oneonta State in a doubleheader at RIT Field which begins at 12 p.m.
