ROCHESTER, NY –
The RIT men’s soccer team (3-6-1, 2-0-0 Empire 8) was denied its second straight win, as the visiting University of Rochester Yellowjackets (5-3-1, 0-1-0 UAA) scored four first half goals en route to a 5-0 win on Tuesday afternoon at RIT field.

The Yellowjackets wasted not time getting on the board, taking advantage of a Tiger defensive miscue to take a 1-0 lead just 1:09 into the contest.  Jeremy Mann broke up an attempted RIT clear just outside the penalty area.  He dribbled in and found Neil Osuch, who slid a shot just past a diving Alan Smith (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) for the goal.

U of R struck again in the 16th minute, as Nick Mikolenko intercepted a pass at midfield and sent Tyler Green in on the right flank.  Green’s blast from 18-yards out eluded Smith giving the Yellowjackets a 2-0 lead.  The goal was Green’s team-leading seventh of the year.

Green scored his second of the half and eighth of the year in the 29th minute as he corralled a cross, eluded a defender and ripped a shot off the crossbar to make it 3-0 Yellowjackets.

Mikolenko completed the first half scoring, heading in a corner kick from Dominic Pellingra in the 41st minute.

RIT’s best chance came midway through the first half, as off of a restart, D.J. Rowse (Seattle, WA/Cascade) (Seattle, WA/Cascade) whistled a shot that the U of R goalkeeper Paco Corbalan just got a piece off, swatting the ball over the net.

Greg Colavecchia scored a late second half goal for the Yellowjackets off a corner kick cross from Pellingra.

U of R out-shot the Tigers 16-6.  Corbalan, Mike Peacock and Brandon Campbell shared the shutout for the Yellowjackets.  R.J. Winkler (Mason, OH/William Mason) (Mason, OH/William Mason) made three saves in relief for the Tigers.

RIT is back in action on Saturday, as they travel to play fellow undefeated Empire 8 foe Ithaca College 1 p.m.
