ONEONTA, NY -- The RIT women's soccer team secured a spot in the Empire 8 Tournament after a 1-0 win over Hartwick College on Saturday afternoon. With the win the Tigers improve to 6-6-3 overall and 4-1-1 in the Empire 8. Hartwick drops to 4-10-1 on the season.
The games lone goal came in the 19th minute when
Emily Traversi (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough) (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough) scored on an assist from
Anna Kolnik (Sharon, WI/Big Foot) (Sharon, WI/Big Foot).
RIT fired 14 shots, while holding the Hawks to six shots. Ashley Conti (Canfield, OH/Canfield) had to make just two saves for the Tigers, earning her fifth shut out of the season.
This will be the Tigers first appearance in the Empire 8 Tournament since the 2003 season.
