ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT men’s soccer team (6-6-1, 4-0-0 Empire 8) extended its winning streak to three games and stayed unbeaten in Empire 8 play after defeating Elmira College 2-0 at the RIT Field on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams had their share of chances during a scoreless first half which saw the Tigers attempt 11 corner kicks and 10 shots.

Jeff Diaz (Brentwood, NY/Brentwood) (Brentwood, NY/Brentwood) had RIT’s best chance a few minutes in when he headed a corner kick that Elmira goalkeeper Jon DePrimo corralled.

RIT goalkeeper Alan Smith (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) made a diving save on a shot by Elmira’s Tim Certosimo later in the first half to keep the game scoreless.

The Tigers got on the board early in the second half, as Kyle Dawson (Essex Junction, VT/Essex) (Essex Junction, VT/Essex) directed a shot towards the Elmira net that went off a Soaring Eagles defender and into the net.

Shortly after, Mark Frisicano (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) scored for the third straight game, blasting a shot from 30-yards out into the upper right hand corner of the net to give RIT a 2-0 lead.  The goal was Frisicano’s seventh of the year.
