GENEVA, NY - The RIT women’s soccer team (4-6-3, 3-1-1 Empire 8) dropped its second consecutive game on Tuesday, as they fell to regionally-ranked William Smith 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
William Smith (9-3-0, 5-0-0 Liberty League) jumped out to a 2-0 first half lead on goals by Laura Burnett-Kurie and Julie Boardmann-Brann.
Burnett-Kurie scored her 10th goal of the season in the 14th minute, taking a cross from Heather Phillip and ripping a shot into the upper right hand corner of the net.
Boardmann-Brann made it 2-0 in the 39th minute on another crossing pass, this time from Leigh Williamson.
Ali Art completed the scoring in the 76th minute, converting on a corner kick for the Herons.
Lynette Serbinski (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) made her first start of the season for the Tigers, making five saves.
William Smith out-shot RIT 9-0. Nikki Dudley earned the shut-out for the Herons.
The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday, October 17, as they travel to play Daemen College at 4 p.m.
