ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women's track and field squad completed at the Snowflake Invitational at the University of Rochester on Saturday afternoon. Six different Tigers won events for RIT, as they team had a strong showing.
LaKeisha Perez (Buffalo, NY/Leonardo da Vinci) (Buffalo, NY/Leonardo DaVinici) won the opening event of the day, taking the 55-meter dash in a time of 7.50 seconds. Jessica McCarthy (Oswego, NY/Oswego) (Oswego, NY/Oswego) finished second in 7.86. Perez also won the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 8.91 second.
McCarthy won the 200-meter dash in a time of 29.21. Danielle Simmons (Brewertown, NY/Brewertown) (Brewertown, NY/Brewertown) led a RIT top-three sweep in the 1000-meter run. She won the race in 3:07.22. Trisha Sliker (Albion, NY/Albion) (Albion, NY/Albion) and Adrienne Gagnier (Croghan, NY/Beaver River) (Croghan, NY/Beaver River) finished second and third respectively.
Sliker followed up by winning the mile run by 33 seconds in a time of 5:29.85. Sara Pancoast (Stratford, CT/Bunnell) (Stratford, CT/Bunnell) won the 3,000-meter run in 11:27.14.
Allison Griggs (Salem, CT/East Lyme) (Salem, CT/East Lyme) was victorious in the shot put, with a toss of 11.60 meters. She also annexed the weight throw, using a toss of 14.43 meters to take the event.
RIT is back in action on Saturday, as they host the RIT Invitational.
