Click For BoxscoreROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (2-2-0) men's soccer team was defeated by Hobart College (2-0-1), 3-1 this afternoon at RIT Field.
Hobart was more aggressive in the first half, taking the bulk of the play to RIT. The Statesmen tallied the first goal in the 23rd minute.
Ben Crosky scored on a deflection from
Bradley Weinberg, giving Hobart a 1-0 lead.
Micke Subotowicz made it 2-0 Hobart in the 56th minute when RIT's
Geoff Schmidt (Wooster, OH/Wooster) turned the ball over. Subotowicz dribbled into the penalty area, beating a defender and ripped a shot past
Dan Slocum (Irondequoit, NY/Bishop Kearney) for his third goal of the season.
RIT was much more aggressive in the second half and that agression paid off less than four minutes later when
Bruno Coelhe (Cumberland, RI/Cumberland) cut Hobart's lead in half with his first goal of the season.
Dan Beca (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) sent Coelhe in clear an he beat Hobrt keeper Pete Van Dellon low and to the right, making it 2-1.
The Statesmen put the game away when
Subotowicz converted a penalty kick for a 3-1 lead.
Dan Slocum (Irondequoit, NY/Bishop Kearney) (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) made seven saves for RIT in his first start of the season, allowing three goals.
The Tigers face Hamilton College on Saturday, September 10 at 1 p.m. in Clinton, New York.
