ROCHESTER, NY -
Despite firing a season-high 31 shots, including 16 on goal, the RIT Women's Soccer team dropped its third straight contest, 3-1 to the Buffalo State Bengals at RIT Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Buffalo State (3-0) got on the board first, just 1:13 into the game, as Julia Spak took a pass from Gina Monaco just inside the box, whirled around and fired a shot just inside the right goal post for her first tally of the year.

The Bengals made it 2-0 in the 19th minute, as Liz Jacobsen redirected a shot towards the goal that went in off a RIT defender.  Jacobsen was credited with the goal, her third of the season.

RIT had a handful of great chances to make 2-1 right after the Jacobsen goal, but were unable to find the back of the net.  With 20 minutes left in the opening half, Melanie Bryant (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) had  her shot stopped by Katie Melsert.  The rebound went to Lindsay Kolceski (Syracuse, NY/Solvay) (Syracuse, NY/Solvay) at the side of the Buffalo State net but her shot was blocked by the Buffalo State defense.  That shot richocheted to Erica Main (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) whose shot just missed the open net.

Buffalo State upped its lead to 3-0, when Spak fired in a shot from a tough angle for her second of the day.

RIT broke up the shutout in the 78th minute, as RIT co-captain Jen Rynda (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) scored her first collegiate goal.  Rynda collected the ball about 30 yards out and blasted shot just under the crossbar to complete the scoring.

Melsert made 14 saves for the Bengals.

RIT out-shot Buffalo State 31-10 and attempted six corner kicks.

RIT (0-3) is back in action on Saturday, as they travel to Potsdam, NY to play Clarkson University at 3:30 p.m.
