ROCHESTER, NY-- The RIT women's tennis team hosted Alfred University Saxons this afternoon. The Tigers defeated the Saxons 5-4 and improved their record to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the Empire 8. The The Saxons drop to 4-4 overall.

The third doubles team of Aimee Holmberg (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug) (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug) and Michelle Nicholson (Grove City, PA/Grove City) (Grove City, Pa/Grove City) provided RIT's lone win in doubles competition.

In singles Rachel Pikus (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo Seminary) (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo Seminary) won at fifth singles and Leigh Bryson (Wallingford, CT/Mark T. Sheehan) (Wallingford, CT/Mark T. Sheehan) won the deciding match at third singles. Holmberg and Nicholson added another two points with wins in singles.

The Tigers play at SUNY Geneseo on Friday at 3:30 pm.
