ROCHESTER, NY -
Four different players scored goals, and eight players recorded at least one point on the afternoon, as the RIT Women's Soccer team recorded its first home win, Empire 8 victory and shutout of the season, defeating Hartwick 4-0 at RIT Field on Saturday.

The Tigers (2-6-0, 1-1-0 Empire 8) dominated from the start, with several good chances in the game's opening minutes.  In the 11th minute, junior Alaina Chorney (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) converted on a corner kick, receiving a cross from Krystal Adriaansen (Marion, NY/Marion) (Marion, NY/Marion) to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

First-year forward Sarah Knapp (Danville, PA/Milton) (Danville, PA/Milton) made it 2-0 in the 31st minute.  Junior defender Emily Stecher (New Cannan, CT/New Cannan) (New Cannan, CT/New Cannan) collected a loose ball in Hartwick territory, dribbled between two Hartwick players and lobbed a ball just inside the box, finding a streaking Emily Traversi (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough) (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough).  Traversi ripped a shot off the post, which bounced to Knapp in front of the net.  Knapp collected the loose ball and slipped it into the open net for her first collegiate goal.

Junior Melanie Bryant (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) (Lancaster, NY/Sacred Heart Academy) gave RIT a 3-0 cushion in the 82nd minute, scoring her second goal of the season.  Adriaansen fired a crossing pass towards the Hartwick net, which deflected off of Mallory Frost (Barre, VT/Spaulding) (Barre, VT/Spaulding) right to Bryant, who went around the goalkeeper and sild the ball into the open net.

Alyssa Bennett (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) closed out the scoring in the 88th minute, gathering a loose ball and bending a shot just inside the left goal-post from about 25 yards out for her first collegiate goal.

Adriaansen recorded two assists for the Tigers.

RIT out-shot Hartwick 31-3 and had 10 corner kicks.

Heather Moe (Chesapeake Beach, MD/Calvert) (Chesapeake Beach, MD/Calvert) needed to make just two saves for her first collegiate shutout.

Ashley Taylor made 10 saves for Hartwick before leaving the game with an injury with 33:08 remaining.  Sam Marinelli finished with three saves in relief for Hartwick (0-8-0, 0-2-0 Empire 8).

RIT is back in action on Wednesday, as they travel to cross-town rival Nazareth College.  Game-time is at 4 p.m.
