ROCHESTER, NY -
The RIT Women's Soccer team (1-6, 0-1 Empire 8) fell to Genesee River rival University of Rochester by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon at RIT Field.

The Yellowjackets (4-1-1), ranked ninth in the latest NSCAA/Adidas Division III national poll received two goals from junior Mary Walsh (Honeoye Falls, NY/Pittsford Mendon), one in each half, which proved to be the difference.

Walsh opened the scoring in the ninth minute, taking a lead pass from Laura Morrison (Corvalis, OR/Corvalis) and one-timing a shot from just inside the box into the upper right corner of the net to give U of R the 1-0 lead.

Walsh struck again in the 49th minute, scoring an almost identical goal to her first tally, getting a feed from Anne McMahon (Clay, NY/CBA) for her third goal of the season.

RIT had its best chance with about 13 minutes remaining, as Mallory Frost (Barre, VT/Spaulding) (Barre, VT/Spaulding) found herself in front of the U of R net, but had her shot blocked by the defense.

Tiger goalkeeper Heather Moe (Chesapeake Beach, MD/Calvert) (Chesapeake Beach, MD/Calvert ) made seven saves in the loss for the Tigers.

U of R out-shot RIT 27-4 and had 12 corner kicks to RIT's one.

RIT is back in action on Saturday, as they host Empire 8 rival Hartwick at RIT Field.  Game-time is at 2 p.m.
