ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT Women’s Volleyball team got off to a great start in the 16th Annual RIT Volleyball Invitational on Friday night, defeating Buffalo State (0-11) in three games, by scores of 30-9, 30-18, 30-23.
Bonnie Harriman (Danbury, CT/Danbury) (Danbury, CT/Danbury) led the way with 10 kills and two solo blocks. Tahlia Miller (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton) (East Hampton, NY/Southampton) recorded a team-best nine digs to go along with seven kills. First-year Jessica Schaffer (Wellington, OH/Keystone) (Wellington, OH/Keystone) also slammed seven kills.
Nichole Boxler (Vargsburg, NY/Attica) (Vargsburg, NY/Attica) dished out 29 assists in the win. Christine Rowinski (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hollow Hills East) (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hollow Hills East) had seven digs and six kills.
RIT (9-1) will play Fredonia State in more first round action of the RIT Invitational at 8 p.m. Friday.
