ROCHESTER, NY -- Andrew Ong (Phuket, Thailand/SKL)'s (Phuket, Thailand/SKL) goal with 15 seconds remaining in the first overtime gave the RIT men's (3-3-0) soccer team a 2-1 over St. Lawrence University (2-3-0) on Friday afternoon. The Saints came into the game ranked fifth in the Northeast in the latest NSCAA/adidas Regional Rankings.
Tyler Dater headed in a service pass from David Osorno to give St. Lawrence a 1-0 lead in the 40th minute.
The score remained 1-0 until the 49th minute when
Levi Stuck (Wolcott, NY/North Rose-Wolcott) (Wolcott, NY/North RoseWolcott) scored his first collegiate goal. Stuck scored off a corner kick on an assist from
Chuck Marion (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) (Syracuse, NY/Westhill).
In the first overtime period it looked as if it would go into a second overtime until Ong's first collegiate goal.
Chris Somers (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) (Spencerport NY/Spencerport) fed Ong who ripped a bending shot from 20 yards out that beat Saint's goalie Emilio Coletta, giving RIT the win.
Dan Slocum (Irondequoit, NY/Bishop Kearney) (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) made five saves for RIT, including four in the second half, picking up his first win of the season.
