BROCKPORT, NY -
Sophomore hurler Allie Sitton (Baltimore, MD/The Park School) (Baltimore, MD/The Park School) struck out 17 batters in game one, breaking the RIT single-season record for strikeouts, as the Tigers split a doubleheader with cross-town rival Brockport State on Tuesday afternoon, winning game one 2-0 in eight innings and losing game two 3-2 in nine innings.

In game one, Caitlin Krumm (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) ripped a game-winning, two RBI double in the eighth inning, driving in Breana Sniezek (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) and Megan Varner (Apalachin, NY/Owego Free) (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) for the 2-0 victory.

Sitton was tremendous, allowing just a two-out single to Katie Schweinfurth in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Sitton's 17 strikeouts gives her 174 on the season, briking the previous record of 171, set by current RIT Assistant Coach Krissy Mamon, who pitched for the Tigers from 1998-2001.

In the second game, the Golden Eagles struck first in the bottom of the fourth inning, when  Schweinfurth reached on an error, which scored Kristin Whittaker. The Tigers scored in the sixth with an RBI from Josa Hanzlik (Fairport, NY/Fairport) (Fairport, NY/Fairport) to tie it 1-1.

In the top of the ninth, Stephanie Nailos (Pittsfield, MA/Taconic) (Pittsfield, MA/Taconic) single to centerfield drove in Gretchen Goodhue (Sanford, ME/Sanford) (Sanford, ME/Sanford) to take a 2-1 lead. The Golden Eagles took the victory in the bottom of the ninth when Kelly Parkot scored on a passed ball to tie the game 2-2.  Laura Laramie's single to leftfield drove in Brittany Schnautz for the winning run.

Amanda Morehouse (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) pitched well in defeat, allowing seven hits and one earned run over 8 2/3 innings of work.

RIT (20-16, 10-2 Empire 8) is back in action on Friday, as they host the Empire 8 Tournament.  Top-seeded RIT plays #4 Elmira at 12 p.m.
