In game one,
Mike Fox (Victor, NY/Victor) (Victor, NY/Victor) won his fifth game of the season, allowing just three hits and walking two batters en route to his third complete game of 2005.
Adam Gerentine (Poughkeepsie, NY/Marlboro) (Poughkeepsie, NY/Marlboro),
Scott Schneider (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) and
Colin Bradley (Barre, VT/Spaulding) (Barre, VT/Spaulding) ripped two hits apiece.
Gerentine opened the scoring in the bottom of the third inning, scoring on a RBI double by
John Byrne (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East).
Mark Sapienza (Avon, NY/Avon) (Avon, NY/Avon) made it 2-0, with a groundout to second, scoring
Schneider, who also singled and advanced to third on Byrne’s double.
In the bottom of the fourth,
Dan Scorse (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) singled to lead off and was driven in by
Matt Singer (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima), who hit a sacrifice fly to center to close out the scoring.
Schneider ripped his first homerun of the season on his way to a 4-for-4 day with two runs scored and two RBI as RIT took the nightcap, 7-3.
The senior leftfielder gave RIT a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with a line-drive homer to left center field. He then followed with three straight singles to improve his season average to .491 (28-for-57) in 2005.
Brian Lindenau (Tucson, AZ/Sabino) (Tucson, AZ/Sabino) ripped three hits in an as many at-bats, including his team-leading third triple of the season. He also scored two runs.
First-year infielder
Matt George (Walton, Ny/Walton) (Walton, NY/Walton) finished 2-for-2 with a RBI single.
Pat Walters (Rochester, NY/Webster) (Webster, NY/Webster) earned his second win of the season, allowing eight hits and an earned run, striking out three.
Paul Schoeneck (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) pitched a scoreless seventh inning for the Tigers.
RIT is back in action on Wednesday, as they host Brockport in a single, nine-inning game at 4 p.m.
