Rochester, NY -- The RIT men's tennis team beat the Saint John Fisher Cardinals at home this afternoon by a score of 6-1. The Tigers record is now 3-1 and the Cardinals are 6-6.
In doubles, first doubles team of David Chachu (Kumasi, Ghana/Mfantsipim School) (Kumasi, Ghana/Mfantsipim School) and Rod Razavi (Cincinnati, OH/Cincinnati Country Day) (Cincinnati, OH/Cincinnati Country Day) and third doubles team Frank Salome (Rochester, NY/Eastridge) and Jon New (Pittsburgh, PA/Central Catholic) (Pittsburgh, Pa/Central Catholic) both defeated their opponents. Second doubles team of freshman Jason Swails (Vestal, NY/Vestal) (Vestal, NY/Vestal) and sophomore Adam DePuit (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) played a tough match and lost in a tiebreak 9-8(7-4).
In singles action, Chachu, Salome, and Zak Blazic (Wyncote, PA/Cheltenham) (Wyncote, PA/Cheltenham) all added to the teams win. Seniors New and Razavi all had long matches which lead to victory's in the end.
The Tigers travel to Elmira tomorrow afternoon and play at 1:00 pm and then host St. Lawrence Sunday at 1:00 pm. If it rains on Sunday the Tigers will play at 8:00 am in the field house.
